Letter : Newport, [R.I.] to Captain William Tanner, 1774 March 2.

William and Samuel Vernon convey orders to Captain William Tanner of the sloop Dolphin to "proceed directly to Charles Town, South Carolina, and make application to Mr. Nathaniel Russell immediately." Tanner is to take on a load of rice at Charleston and then sail to Hamburg (Germany) and other ports making various transactions.
